SEVEN BASIC RULES FOR THE PREVENTION OF CANCER – RULE ONE
We live in restless, uneasy times, beset with many failures and disappointments. Instead of putting the emphasis on the manifold problems and difficulties confronting us, we should try our best to keep calm and maintain our equilibrium. If we let worries and anxieties dominate us, we should not be surprised if our health begins to suffer; we will become agitated and our mental and emotional life will be impaired, even come under stress. In such circumstances is there any wonder that spasms occur and mental tensions attack and damage our cellular system?
We must fight against depression in our outlook and attitude, because constant mental and emotional pressures, given time, can act like a physical cell poison. Depressive worries lead directly to tension in the body and if the condition is allowed to continue, it will contribute considerably to the development of cancer. So if we do not want to suffer undue damage through worries and the like, we must make a determined effort to shake off everything that might upset our equilibrium, our inner calm and balance. However, that does not mean we should become apathetic or lethargic, for indifference is no remedy whatsoever. On the contrary, we must endeavour to go about our work with a happy spirit and with bold determination try to find release from our worries. If we do all that lies in our power to do, then we can remain calm and take care that our spirit is filled with uplifting, optimistic things and that we enjoy nature’s precious gifts with joy and gratitude. There are some people who give in to their worries and anxieties to such an extent that their depression makes them oblivious to the most beautiful scenery and glorious sunshine. It is to them that we especially recommend the precept ‘Happiness means health’.
